Implementing business strategy needs to be fluid. It rarely works immediately. Strategy is tricky. The key is to not get stressed and lose motivation when it doesn’t stick the first time. Adopt the Goldilocks Principle.
Controllables & Uncontrollables
A significant controllable to business success is your psychological game – what happens between the ears. Business is not for the feint-hearted. It takes courage to wake up each day and embrace the challenges that your business throws at you. When facing challenges, I find it useful to split them intro Controllables & Uncontrollables.
Trust Your Instincts
Why do we doubt our instincts? To mitigate risk, believing this will lead to a better decision. A more considered decision. We place more weight on inputs from several trusted sources beyond ourselves. We often decrease the weighting of our instincts in comparison to the views of others. How can trusting our instincts help us?
The Preparation
Reality TV Villains and why they don’t win in business
Psychologists spend hours poring over the applicants to get a cross-section(emphasis intended) of contestants most likely to be adored or hated by cast-mates and viewers alike.
So much is invested in the villain (or villains) creating chaos and mayhem. They polarize their fellow contestants and viewers on the couch with their devious behaviour and game-changing actions. You can’t look but you can’t look away. Entire episodes are promoted solely on the premise of revealing just one action by the villain.
